Objectives encompass the goal of MNP+ to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS in the state of Manipur

aims
To facilitate and improve access to treatment for PLHIV:

MNP+ believes that treatment is very important and crucial for all PLHIV. To facilitated and improved access to treatment for PLHIV, MNP+ is implementing 8 (eight) Care and Support Centres (CSCs) in 8 (eight) districts of Manipur namely i. Imphal East ii. Imphal West iii. Churachandpur iv. Thoubal v. Ukhrul vi. Senapati vii. Chandel viii. Bishnupur to providing care support services to PLHIV, adherence support, Social Protection schemes/Social Entitlement funded by GFATM-IV RCC-II through India HIV/AIDS Alliance.

To provide access to Opioid Substitute Therapy treatment & Targeted Intervention to IDU & PLHIV

The aim of the Opioid Substitute Therapy is to reduce the amount of HIV transmission in Imphal City related to injecting drug use by reducing morbidity and mortality caused by the use of illicit drugs and to improve physical and psychological health of IDUs to facilitate reintegration into the workforce and education system. With an objective to provide buprenorphine based substitution therapy services to 200 (two hundred) clients and Targeted Intervention to 150 IDUs over the life of the project at Imphal such that successful treatment outcomes are achieved for the majority of clients, based on the clients’ personal treatment aims.

To promote and access to social and legal protection scheme:

To promote and protect the rights of PLHIV, the Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+) in collaboration with Lawyers Collective, Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) and All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) works together to fight for denial of rights, property inheritance, right to education, treatment and other basic things. of PLHIV in the state of Manipur. MNP+ in in respect of The Legal Cell is acting not only as a platform for spreading legal awareness but counseling among the HIV/AIDS infected and affected people and their families also.

To promote involvement of PLHIV at all levels of decision making.

The Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS (GIPA) is promoted by MNP+ at all levels. MNP+ has its representatives at the executive member of State AIDS Control Society and in districts also members are representing in DAPCC. Members of MNP+ is also part of the Technical Advisory Committee, Joint Appraisal Team and Monitoring Evaluation Team of the SACS. President, MNP+ is representing as the Member, Board of Visitor, Manipur Central Jail, Govt. of Manipur.

To provide opportunities for networking for PLHIV.

9 (nine) District Level Networks for PLHIV and 1 self support group at Sugnu are being formed. MNP+ provides it’s affiliated Networks with capacity building trainings and the technical support to function effectively in their response to the HIV epidemic. The networks work towards garnering community support and involvement.

To provide providing specific information related to important issues and services:

To provide peer and psychosocial counseling support to PLHIV and their family members to ensure a healthy life and to enroll all PLHIV through community friendly strategies, assuring confidentiality and protecting rights providing specific information related to important issues and services, treatment adherence, counseling services, nutrition, home based care, PLHIV rights, livelihood, treatment, care, education, etc) to PLHIV and their family members. And to develop the psycho-social capacity of children (living and affected by HIV) accessing the DIC, to adapt a positive life style and to work with civil society and existing power structures with appropriate strategies to bring down existing levels of stigma and discrimination in various forms against PLHIV and also to establish effective functional linkages with existing health care provisions in government and private settings (e.g. ICTC, ART centers, Pediatric clinic, RNTCP Clinics, STI Clinics, PPTCT) thereby helping PLHIV access essential health care services on immediate requirement.

To promote social acceptance of PLHIV and to end stigma and discrimination.

Since the inception of organisation, MNP+ has been effectively advocate for reduction of stigma and discrimination, resulting in a supportive environment for improving the quality of life of People living with HIV/AIDS.
